Look at my cam follower...
« on: August 13, 2016, 10:35:52 pm »
Hi there, I had my CF changed earlier at 69k miles and just wondered how the old one looks to those of you on here that know about these? I'm new to owning a MK5 GTI and just wondered what it looks like and was it worthy of changing? Thanks  :happy2:

That's the protective coating gone mate. In my opinion change it.

Cheers guys for your replies! Looks like it was worth changing then- what a pain in the a@&e the banjo bolt was! I understand you can convert it to a simple fuel line? If it's something I have to change regularly then I might but how long should I leave it before doing it again? Would having a re map lessen its life?
Cheers, Ollie  :happy2:

I'd recommend every oil change for peace of mind as the follower will be working a lot harder under a remap. I'm also going to change that f@#£ing banjo for the easy option as it's a nightmare of a job as slipping/cross threading it isn't an option  :scared:

Yeah I think I will too! I'll keep an eye on your thread to see how you get on! Great mods to your car btw! What stage is it at?

I think if you are on the OEM fuel pump and using decent oil (millers nano drive) then you shouldnt need to change it that often to be honest with you.

My cam follower has ~30-40K on it and it looks like a new one.

If you are using an LOBA/APR/AUTOTECH Fuel pump then i would be checking it every 5K
