Diverter Valve shot?
« on: August 24, 2016, 06:14:55 pm »
Hi there, I took my GTI out today but when I booted it in 2nd there was just a whistling noise and loss of 'thrust' instead of that nice kick from the turbo. I think I read somewhere on here that it might be the DV? I'm off to R-tech soon so I dare say it will get a good inspection but I'm just curious as to whether any of you think it is the DV? Also do any of you know what revision DV would have been fitted to my 2005 GTI?
Cheers, Ollie  :happy2:

Literally a million threads on here about the DV and which revision you need. Get it swapped before you take it to rtech

Cheers Rich83  :happy2: I'm going to R-tech in less than a week so no time! I understand that they check this and the PCV before hand any way?

That's just a recent thread where the guy wanted the latest dv and pcv revisions, which are rev G and rev R respectively.

It sounds like a f*cked dv from your description. Although it's a good idea to get the pcv done while you're at it.

Niki will check, but it's better to get to R-Tech knowing you've got all the basics renewed anyway. Check your cam follower too (again, loads of threads on that).

I pulled an old rev C dv from mine. It was knackered. Regardless of the year of your car, the rev G is the one to get.

Ok cheers fella  :happy2: I had the cam follower done the other day so should be ok. I'm guessing the DV on there is probably a rev C then if it's original. Will be interesting to see what's what after R-tech!
Cheers, Ollie.

You'll bloody love it pal. Very smooth but really strong. I'm used to getting remaps on most cars I've owned and R-Tech are right up there. Stage 1 was good. Stage 2 is angry. Be careful on the drive home ;)

Get it sorted before you go....

I'm confused Rich- this is a quote on their website:

"R-Tech can supply and install a new G DV to your car for just £45 during the remapping session. As part of the remap service we will check the DV free of charge before starting to tune the car so don’t worry too  much about having to replace or checking the DV yourself we will make sure all is ok before tuning."

Or am I missing something..?

Ok... lets say they fit a new DV and thats not the issue....

Best to go with a working car rather than expect them to sort it out for you. I know full well that I wouldnt take a car that had running problems to get it remapped until it was running 100%

Up to you.... its your time/money.

Thanks Rich- I've only had the car a short while so forgive me if my questions seem a tad ignorant. I don't have the luxury of time to get the DV or PCV checked/replaced so surely I've got nothing really to lose by going?
Cheers, Ollie  :happy2:

Ollie, if you have K04, IE Edition 30/Pirelli (I haven't read thread) then swap out is 10 min job, piece of piss mate.
If you're normal GTI (K03) then more involved but not hard; at all.  After sorting location (different for each) it's 3 Allen bolts and a loom plug  :happy2:
