Local VW selling new cars at cost price plus £50
« on: September 07, 2016, 12:02:43 pm »
So i have had an email from Marriottt Motor Group stating that they are offering loyal customers new cars at cost price (what they pay VW) plus £50 on all cars registered in September.
Give them a ring , covers Ipswich Stowmarket Bury St Edmunds and Kings Lynn VW.

So what savings could be made , it is obviously only on cars they have in stock due to need ing to be registered in September ?

Yes, but also maybe clearing the decks ahead of the facelifted Golf? Not much of a facelift on the outside, but quite a lot of tech updates on the interior...

How long before this arrives here?

https://www.yahoo.com/news/vw-offers-1-000-loyalty-bonus-owners-2001-153000793.html

... forever?
Is it not tied to the US dieselgate "compensation scheme" ?
...and we live in "rip off Britain" ?

And as for the cost plus...debate. My local Toyota dealer keeps chasing me with this offer too (we had a new car off them a few years back).
1. How could i possibly know what their cost price really is?
2. If its true, I'm amazed they mange to fund all those staff and big posh show rooms on the basis of the <£200 per unit margin on a minimum £10k new sale, that they say they make. Clearly these dealerships are profitable, as they seem to get bigger and posher at every iteration.
Anybody been in a new BMW dealership in the SE recently? More like a boutique hotel, complete with staff whose only job seemed to be to get me fancy coffe and cream cakes! I REALLY don't want to pay for that, but ok if its a free company car tho..ha ha!

Would be interesting to get an example out of them? As mentioned - what exactly is cost price?
