Fitting RNS510 in the place of MFD2?
« on: September 02, 2016, 11:00:32 pm »
Looking to get these swapped out at some stagebut have a couple of questions.

Are all the RNS510 units the same? Id like to be able to get the SatNav and Audio on my Highline display like i do now?
Id also like bluetooth so i can play my iPhone through the speakers along with fairly decent satnav.

Is it a simple bolt in, bolt out? Any extra bits needed?

Thanks

Easy to do. You may need to upgrade your canbus gateway if you have an older than K version or install the firmware that stops battery draining.

Satnav and audio will appear in your highline menu once the rns is fitted

Make sure you get the antenna with it.  You may need to get a fakra adapter for radio but tbh you can get away with using just one of the antenna connections for the radio.

For the Bluetooth you will need to buy an additional module. The kit is about £150. Comes with the wiring, module and foam holder.

Hmm, didn't really want to spend upwards of £500 to get the Bluetooth too.

Are there any other units, such as the Pioneer App Radio 4 which can link to the Highline display to show SatNav and what you are listening too on Audio?

The 7p6 bluetooth is best one. Works off all phones and streams music to the car too.

Peter as far as i know only vw units show nav information in the highline menu. Not sure about the audio on all units but on my friends car his one just said audio on the highline menu and that was with a kenwood.

I am also looking for a new Head Unit.

Have you looked at this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152052617074?_trksid=p4634.m570.l5999&_trkparms=gh1g%3DI152052617074.N36.S1.R1.TR5  Blau manufacture the 510 so it has true OEM look/feel.

I am also looking at this.  Very feature rich and good price, I just don't know the brand.  Has anybody had any experience with this company or product?
