R32 rear valance for MK5 GTI bumper and R32 Back Box
« on: September 09, 2016, 01:55:58 pm »
Hi guys,

I'm looking at cost effective ways to make my rear end  look like a R32. I have seen a few R32 style valances on Ebay. But my question is two fold; will the lower valance fit directly on the upper half of the original bumper? and can a exhaust specialist doctor the original exhaust back box for it to have twin exhausts in the middle like the R32 without replacing the whole back box.

Cheers  :drinking:

it will fit the top half. and probably but for the price it'll cost why not get a new backbox to suite

R32 valance will fit the directly onto GTI top half of rear bumper, the exhaust will be costly part, I would recommend a decent brand for the back box as with time if you go cheap you'll end up hating the noise produced after a while.

Another option would be to delete the back box completely and just put straight pipes with tips but then again you have the issue of the noise. I can say deleting the back box will make no difference to performance, some people will claim turbo back pressure etc, I know someone who's done it and the car literally performed the exact same.

What is your budget to understand what sort of cost you want as it can range in prices depending on the options you choose and where you are based

Hi Guys,

Anyone know roughly how much I should expect to pay for an r32 lower to be sprayed and fitted to my GTI (Can't seem to find one in red)?

Currently on the fence if I should change from my Ed30 one to one of these.

I paid 180, which is probably at the higher end of what you want to be paying, but it included smoothing and painting the exhaust part gloss black, and the main part (bit with reflectors) had a few nicks so there was a fair bit of prep involved.

R32 rear end should have been standard on ED30's
