Boosting Problems???
« on: September 19, 2016, 04:31:58 pm »
Hello all! I have a MK5 GTI DSG with K04 conversion. The Vehicle has a apr Map which Produced 345bhp. When i go to put full power down the sometimes it will peak at just under 2bar and stay there but then other times when i go to put my foot down it will only boost to about 1.3bar ? Will this be due to the DSG torque limiter kicking in as the gearbox is not map, or will it be a boost leak ?

Cheers

First thing I would do is check the requested vs actual boost pressure with VCDS.  If the actual falls way below requested, that's usually a leak.  Split DV or O rings in the bayonet boost pipes.

If all looks OK there, could be worth trying a DSG remap.  I'd get that done anyway tbh!  Nobody wants auto upshifting on corners when using the paddles.

Boost is not a static number. It will vary hugely depending on gear, rpm and load. Get it logged and send them to APR if you think there is an issue
