Air con re-gas

Seen a deal for a service & re-gas for £20 at a HIQ garage. Price is tempting of course  :smiley:
Are these types of places ok to get this done or too cheap to be a good job, or they find faults that 'need' fixing or is it best to go to VW or an independent?
Not having had this done before I don't have a clue how much it would cost going to one of these places but guess it would be a lot more.

I tend to get my aircon regassed as the cheapest place, it's not exactly a technical job so Hi-Q should be fine IMO.

FYI VW charge £79 for an Aircon service, which includes the re-gas.

I'd just go with the £20 one.

Cheers guys, just had another look at the deal and it says ....

'An Network Tyres mechanic breathes new life into air-conditioning units with a service and re-gas. After a thorough inspection, any pesky leaks are identified in a pressure test. The job comes to a close as the mechanic re-lubricates the system with fresh oil and recharges it with refrigerant.'

Just wondered what the re-lube is about?
I'll get it booked in anyhow I think.

You can regas yourself with a DIY kit from halfords for about same cost. I guess the £20 "service" is a loss leader to find any eaks or problems with your system that you'd have to pay to fix. If system OK it's a good deal.

Like a "free tyre check" from kwakfot

The gas they put in contains a lubricant which is needed to keep seals in good shape and help reduce leakage.
