S3 8P Front Calipers

Hi guys and gals

Could someone tell me if the front calipers from an S3 8P bolt straight onto a GTI as I'm on the understanding that it's just the brake lines and carriers that need changing! And if so if anyone can point me in the right direction of a tutorial that would be great.

Also along the same lines would they fit behind a alloy with the following spec: 18x8.5" ET44

You just need longer brake lines, I think. You can also get specific braided hoses that delete the caliper hard pipe.

The calipers should come with carriers, pads and discs.

It's a bolt on upgrade. I don't know of any DYI but it's easy.

Those calipers fit under any 17'' OEM wheel so you'll have plenty of space with those you mentioned.

Just fitted S3/R32 brakes to mine. They bolt straight on, but you will need the R32 front brake lines (both ends of the hose are the same female fitting), the Gti ones have a banjo fitting on the caliper end and bolt directly to the caliper; R32/S3 have a copper pipe on the caliper the hose connects to.
The front brake shields are not big enough, but I just bent mine back a bit to clear the discs. R32 shields do not fit, screw holes do not align as the hubs are different (alloy ones).
The R32/S3 brakes do add quite a bit of weight, a lot of this is due to the discs, they weight heaps!!! if you are buying new discs, get the TTS discs, slightly smaller diameter, but quite a bit lighter 
It is worth getting new bolts for fixing the carriers onto the hub, these are torqued bloody tight! If you are changing the rear, you will need a 14 or 16mm multi-spline socket to remove the carrier from the hub; not easy to get to, but is possible with a little patience.
