GOLF/GTI ED30 Rear Seat removal and Carpeted
« on: January 21, 2010, 11:35:22 pm »
Has anyone removed Rear Seats and Carpeted to match to the OEM rear boot cloth ,as it will Save a ton of weight while keep a great OEM look.I have just got delivery of Thomas sport tuning stress Brace for the rear and Shroth Quickfit Pro harness,
has anyone any advice our photo's :notworthy:

I believe it is approximately 30-40 kg of weight for the rear seats alone

afaik you simply cant buy the genuine carpet to match, only get a close match as its not available on the roll

i was told this while getting my boot install done on various forums so ended up getting a slighty lighter shade and tinting it darker to get as close as possible

OTTIS you shouldnt be worrying about things like this (carpeting, seat removal etc.) cause you've already got a busy weekend in front of you, what with helping me with my Osir gaitor and badges :jumpmove: :rolleye:

Luke AKA Plush automotive could be worth asking about making up a fitted carpet for you. My back seats have been out for ages now, and your right they are bloody heavy. If i go a head with this i will be putting some sound deadening in for sure. The blue flame and road noise do my tits in after a while. I think its my age.

Should look nice if you hide everything with a nice flat panel  :happy2:

You'll need slots in it for the harness, obvioulsy, but I have one (along with a few others) and it is a really good bit of kit.

The brace looks good too, although I can't see it being of much structural benefit in a MK5, but as a means of stopping things flying around the boot and looking great, I think it will be ideal.

Be sure to post pics once you've done it.
Sideways yo!
