i will post photo's when i figure out how to use photobucket,Thomas sport tuning stress Brace for the rear "works" read review on R32 Fourm on track day car's

Actually I found a picture of the rear of the brace and I see it does appear to have a lateral brace of box section metal, so it isn't just a flat piece of metal as I thought.

I'm still not convinced the MK5 actually needs bracing, as it is well regarded as being extremely stiff when it comes out of the factory, but at least I understand what the TST bar is trying to achieve now.

Now the version for a MK4 I totelly get, they're made of rubber and need all the bracing they can get!!
Sideways yo!

r26r rear pure sex

heres how i did my vxr but i doubt ill do this to the golf
custom rear brace with harness atachments

then i made a very thin cover in black so i still had a fully useable boot

carpet was a problem but i faded it out from the black to dark grey using carpet spray from ebay< didnr get any pics>

putting your harnessess off a rear strut brace is a bad idea . if you ever had a side impact you will be threw the screen !  always use proper fixing points

OTTIS you shouldnt be worrying about things like this (carpeting, seat removal etc.) cause you've already got a busy weekend in front of you, what with helping me with my Osir gaitor and badges :jumpmove: :rolleye:

That's not problem Mackie1,Mc Gyver will come to your rescue,i am surprized you are allow out? :P

A bunch of flowers for the missus buys me a few hours downtime  and allows me to get on with more "important" issues such as modifying the motor!! :rolleye:

^ Even though the rear strut isn't needed functionally on a Mk5 chassis, it does make an excellent divider and baggage retainer if someone was doing the back seat removal semi permanently.

As others have posted: Very important indeed to use the seat belt anchors as Schroth recommend - I have Schroth too but not worn every day on the road.

Thomas sport tuning stress Brace for the rear, has tightened rear chassis of my mk5 ,but noticed more on track day's to be honest, also the back seat's can be used with Stress Brace and rear seat upright, "have to love that as a bonus".
I agree it  important to use the seat belt anchors as Schroth recommend - harder to install than instruction's suggest,

Would look nice if i hide everything with a nice flat panel and slots in it for the harness ,still unable to find OEM carpet to match boot floor cloth, possible option's  from VW Van's (caddy or tranporter) with bigger floor cloth, also some sound deadening mats has anyone any advice our photo's ,

Give Hurdy a PM about this i seem to remember him finding a very close match when he did his boot in stall. Also MJ interiors would be able to source that material no probs.  :happy2:
