NEW TO THE WORLD OF CARS AND I WANT TO BUY A GTI. HELP ME BROS
PhantomKnight:
Hi there Gti lovers, :driver: I am new to the car world and I really the aspect of modding and cool cosmetics. I taking lessons right now and also looking for a car to buy. One has struck me and must be mine. The VW Golf GTI MK5\MK6. it really is a beauty and I have been looking all over the internet. Mainly Ebay and Gumtree since I live in UK. I stumbled upon this forum while looking some questions about the mk5. I need y'all help. Many gti I have seen are well over 100k mileage. And I have no experience in owning a car and how well they go over 100k. And most cost under £6000. My budget is around £2500 -£3000 max. I am wondering can I find a gti for that price with good enough mileage and low insurance. And yh insurance, I am mainly interested in 1.4 models because I am a student so i will have to budget. if you have any questions be sure to ask. Thanks

At that price budget you can find a gti but will sadly either be cat c or cat d or with just loads of miles on the car.
As you're a student the insurance may be high. I've got a 1.9 TDI with a GTI look for sale at the moment if you're interested. Has a low insurance group so should be cheap and very economical engine

personally if I was a student I would not bother with a gti (insurance, repairs ,etc)- unless you are loaded! there are a lot of better things to do with your money when you are a student! visiting other countries with your exchange students , etc.
you could get a nicely styled bog standard golf for the money you mention and would be fine for road trips !
when I was looking I saw a couple for less than 4000 but they looked poorly and are usually not too clean inside.

If you want gti, buy a gti or you wil never be happy :D

I'm afraid a GTI would be out of your budget!
If you like the look of the GTI but want to settle for a 1.4L then why don't you pick up a 1.4L mk5 golf and fit a GTI kit to it for just a few hundred pound?
Down the line when you finish your degree you can then look forward to the real thing!
