Injector voltage - please help
« on: October 05, 2016, 01:33:48 pm »
Hi guys,

I am removing my injectors and hoping to clean and test them at the weekend.

Car is an AXX engined, 2005 build, Mk5 GTI

Just wondering does anybody know what voltage I should be putting across the injectors in order to operate the solenoid?

I've done a search on google and I have done a search on here but I can't find an exact voltage.

Thanks in advance for any help. I don't want to fry them :ashamed:

If you've watched the video @ducman77 you can see him using a 12v battery to power up the injector  :P

Good job buddy :happy2:

I'm just worried that our fancy modern injectors might get fried with a 12V feed??

There's other videos on the Tube of You with guys using 1.5V or 9V batteries??

Last thing I want to do is hit it with 12V and fry it out :ashamed:

you'll be fine using 12v just do what he's doing re touching the terminal on and off if you're worried about frying the injectors although constant fees shouldn't be an issue either.

Check step 10 I found after typing the above

Sorry for the delay in responding;

We had a good result with the valve cleaning. But it was a much more involved job than we anticipated!

Mine is an AXX engine and the video guide on YouTube we were using was for a later model engine. So we were ages guessing and faffing around as to how to remove the intake manifold!! We got there in the end though!!!

I've photos and a video I'll upload tomorrow.

We ran out of time to do a proper test and clean of the injectors so we just ended up giving the tips and shafts a good scrub.

Car is running sweeter and throttle response is keener. But overall not much of an improvement. Considering how manky the valves were when we started I was expecting more of an appreciable improvement if I'm honest. But it's a nice feeling to know they're actually clean.

Will do a proper write up tomorrow.....

That's a shame it's not to your expectations mate but at least you've got it clean as best you can so won't be needed doing for a while now.
