Stage 2+ feels sluggish
« on: October 15, 2016, 04:18:54 pm »
I have recently had an R-Tech stage 2+ on my 05 Gti and she's just been in for cambelt, tensioner, water pump and alternator belt. I've just got her back from the dealers and she feels a bit sluggish, am I just used to the new power or do they wipe it at the dealers?

They would probably have disconnected the battery when doing the timing belt that might have something to do with it mate

R-Tech maps aren't lost with battery disconnections but the dealer might have "updated" your engine ECU making you lose the remap. Other than that a failed DV can also be the problem and be completely unrelated to the maintenance done recently. Check with your mechanic if the boost is right, for example, or contact R-Tech for a diagnosis on the map.

Ah okay :) I'll have to go for a spirited drive tomorrow, just to make double sure...if not I'll have to give R-tech a ring on Monday, as they did a GFB DV+ for me when it was remapped

So no split DV then. I have a GFB DV+ and I don't think it can fail easily. Check if the cambelt was correctly fitted and the timing isn't out.

A mechanic can do it. I think the engine has to be put in TDC (top dead centre) to see if the timing belt mark matches the engine mark. Other than that a log can help too, I think.

Others more knowledgeable might help more how to check that.

R-Tech map can reset to map 1 if you have the 5 switchable maps..... Worth checking......

Otherwise the cam timing might be out....

When you say dealer, do you mean service at a  VW main agent?

Check the timing belt, they might have put it on a tooth out

Does that mean taking it to a garage?

Do you have VCDS? You can check with that... If not, yes it will be a trip to a garage
