DSG judder after DSG service
« on: October 15, 2016, 07:08:31 pm »
So i took my Ed30 for a spirited drive today and found my DSG misbehaving. There's a single judder/buck when i shift up through the gears which only seems to happen on heavy acceleration. Casual driving is absolutely fine and so are downshifts. This happens in manual mode using both the paddles and the 'sequential'

I'm not for one minute pointing the finger at the garage as what could they have done during the DSG service to cause this? although it seems like a pretty big coincidence.

The car is at stage 1 and only at 33k miles. Any advice would be appreciated on what it could be and what action i should take  :scared:

would be worth going back to the garage for advice and having a chat , if nothing else , will "register" a possible problem/concern which may or may not be linked to the service , just in case this develops in the near future.

Thanks for the reply, going to speak to the garage tomorrow. If it is the gearbox that needs sorting do you know if I would be best going to a DSG specialist that I have found or what a the vw indy garage be capable?

Did you not get any sort of Warranty from GT Performance who you purchased the car off? This is the low mileage example they had for sale at £12000 isn't it?

Nope although I asked there was no warranty. And yeah that's the one.

Disgusting, You have not even owned the car for 3 Months! I am amazed they do not offer a basic Warranty, Especially on such a low mileage example that was up at very strong money! :(

I know, it seems they only do warranty on their Porsches. I didn't end up paying full price but still a lot of money!

@bonelorry I'm taking the car back to the garage that did the DSG service on Thursday to hook it up to their computer. If the gearbox needs attention am I best taking it to a DSG specialist?

beware of being fobbed off with "nothing showing" .. not all mechatronics faults show via a scan. best work out exactly when the fault occurs so you can advise the mechanics correctly. ie may only occur once the engine has warmed up , in certain ranges or conditions.they may say a dsg reset is required and it will re-learn you're style of driving .again beware of being fobbed off with this !. do a google search see if any symptons match yours. good luck.

You can fully reset the DSG software through VCDS. Might help?

Yeah I'm able to tell the mechanics exactly when it occurs. Should I let a vw indy play about with my gearbox if a fault is found?

Wondering why this hasn't been mentioned before but all car dealers must give at least 3 (maybe 6) months warranty on all used car sales. Unless he wrote something saying no warranty and you specifically signed it then you have a legal right to go back. @Lucastheone92

That's exactly what I was thinking. 3 months minimum is the law here in Ireland. Most decent places do 6 months!

Cheers guys I bought the car on the 13th August so will give them a call tomorrow.

Guessing it's best not to mention it's been remapped!

Nah they shouldn't know it's been mapped.

I got my car from them too and the guy was a bit annoying at times like most dealers are. Just be decent with him as nobody likes someone coming in all guns blazing as you would probably get nowhere.

When you buy a second-hand car from a dealer, you still have statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act.
