Any lights on the dash?

Was full power restored?

Any odd noises when you tried to accelerate?

Any intermittent hiccups before this?

Could really be any number of things; limp mode, misfire, fuel cut, the list goes on. You need to get it scanned first. If you can find a forum member with VCDS that'll take a tenner for their help it'd be a good start.

If there aren't any fault codes stored a little live logging session with VCDS will scratch the surface further.

Until then it's guesswork. If the fault hasn't cleared I'd advise keeping the driving to a minimum and make a scan your priority. If you need help deciphering codes there are plenty of knowledgeable bods on here.

ETA: Have a look around the engine to see if anything looks amiss; hoses, lines etc. Could be you've popped off a boost pipe or something.

VW will charge you through the arse just for scanning it. And if you trust them to fix whatever they diagnose you'll also be paying well over the odds.

If Raz is nearby maybe he can help? It's your call, but you could end up spending hundreds for a 60 quid job.

Depends if you're k03 or k04, they're in different places. If k03 you can get to it through the offside wheel arch. Jack car up, axle stands, liner off etc. I'm sure there are plenty of guides on youtube. K04 cars have the dv at the front of the engine iirc.

If it is the dv, it'll probably still boost a little bit, but you'll hear it hissing quite loudly. It'll feel like you're about 40-50bhp down on power rather than no power whatsoever. And it might not trigger a fault code. If you haven't renewed your dv with there's a fair chance yours is split or on its way out anyway, even if it isn't the cause of the current problem. It's good practice to renew to either a VW revision G or a GFB DV+. The GFB valve is more expensive but is theoretically a better long term solution. I'm on a G and it's holding Stage 2 boost fine though.

No worries mate, hope you get it fixed. Think there's a VCDS register on facebook (although I'm not on fb so can't confirm), or failing that stick a quick post up on here and see if anyone can help you with a scan for a few quid.

Worth putting in a new pcv while you're at it too; revision R is the latest I think. Preventative maintenance is always a good idea.

£95 for a full DIAG I was quoted last Week from VW.
