ionstalled full Powerflex front wishbone bushes, issues????
« on: October 20, 2016, 09:43:46 am »
Morning,

I recently went and changed all the front bushes (wishbone front and rear, anti roll bar) and rear tie bar and anti roll bar bushes.

Rear is good, like it. But.... the front feels ok most of the time, but it some times feels like the front end goes a bit wobbly. This happens seemingly randomly, and not just when I'm pushing on.

Its ruined my confidence in the car, as I think I've ruined it.

Its had a full four wheel alignment (kwik fit Hunter) and been checked over by them after the work was done.

Any ideas? as I'm considering changing the front wishbone rear bushes back to normal.

How old are your tyres and how much tread left?
When tyres get older and warn, they tend to square off and can make the car tram-line quite badly and feel unstable.
May be worth swapping front for back to see whether it makes a difference to test this theory?

I had a geo on my 911 with Centre Gravity, one of the best in the business, but still had really bad tram-lining/unstability on poor roads.
I changed all 4 tyres, and hey presto, it handles like it is on rails.

Also had a problem with a Mini Cooper S that I owned, changed the front tyres and it again transformed the car.

Tyres can make a massive difference, even when you think that they are fine because there is plenty of tread left.

thanks.

Tyres are new, had them replaced a week ago, lol.

Its not all the time, my only conclusion is the rear wishbone bushes are either moving (seems unlikely), or that I've over torqued the front wishbone bush and its not moving freely up and down???

it never did it before the bushes......

no idea really..

Did you put the supplied grease around the bushes before inserting them?

May be an idea to remove bottom ball joint to check ease of movement of the wishbone?
