Chirp on gear change, DSG
« on: October 23, 2016, 06:15:19 pm »
I raised this years ago and no answers from VW

New mechatronics box in 2011, all servicing done as it should be. When I accelerate and changing up you can hear a chirp on change, literally like there's a budgie. I can hear it on the right hand front side.

It happens most when it's hot weather or when the car is cold. Always there though and louder under heavier acceleration.

Any ideas?

No loss of power, it's not got any better or worse in five years, I have no idea where to start.

The box is on the left hand side if sat in drivers seat. Are you sure it's coming from the box?

Not necessarily but thought it may because of the changing gear aspect. It only happens when changing gear up.

I would think by the sounds of it that's alternator belt related especially if it's a high pitched squeak/chirp. That's what i'm hoping the issue is on my newly bought DSG gti!

Had this on my gttdi. The dealers said it was the air con pump but when i looked at it at work  it was the fan belt
