2005 golf gti starts but won't drive
« on: October 11, 2016, 05:28:49 pm »
So, I've been looking here for a couple months now just not bothered posting, unfortunately like many others my first post is about a problem. I've got a2005 gti its been running fine up until about an hour ago, I'd just been to an atm on the way home from a trip to town. I was doing about 20mph with traction control off I put my foot down the wheels spun a little and then the car jolted after that it was if my accelerator pedal had stopped working the car wouldn't Rev as normal. The battery light then popped up so I pulled over, key out locked/unlocked the car turned her over and she started fine but wouldn't pull, I had to rev a fair bit to get the car moving, I travelled the remaining mile home very slowly making lots of noise. After having a cig and brew at home I go to check the car and she starts then dies unless given gas, the steering wheel light comes on red then goes Amber and esp remains off any advice given would be greatly appreciated

I forgot to mention that 2000 miles ago I had a sensor on the fuel pump replaced idk if this matter but it can't hurt to add, here's a video of me attempting to start it

You need to get it code read mate, could be a whole host of things!
Have you had a nose under the bonnet? Everything looks like it's where it should be? Do you have a spare key with the car?

Very strange mate

As said above. Could be so many things - fuel pressure? Throttle position sensor? Crank position sensor? Immobiliser issue?

Can't really think of one solid thing that jumps out. VCDS quick as you can mate. Hope it turns out to be something simples :happy2:

Just re-reading your second post there about the fuel pressure sensor - could it have disconnected itself?

Sorry guys I've been busy working and not bothered to come online since I posted, I got the car running later that night by unplugging the MAF sensor even managed to get it moving. So the following day I read up and found I could have an air leak after the MAF, I then gave the pipe with the MAF sensor in a wiggle and two pipes came apart. Refitting the spring hose clamp fixed my problem. All the lights went out after 5 mins of running and it's been running well since. I do appreciate the feedback though
