New Milltek Downpipes
« on: October 26, 2016, 12:20:48 pm »
Milltek Sport have released a new range of downpipes for VAG family of engines:

http://www.millteksport.com/product.news.read.cfm?articleid=180

They mention improved flow and less noise, vibration and harshness into the cabin but I can't seem to find any performance numbers (i.e. gains over the original downpipes). Anyone have any more detailed information on these items yet?

I've e-mailed Milltek directly, if I hear anything I'll post it up here.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

I doubt it's better than either the BCS DP & Sports cat, or the relentless 3.5in DP (guy on TFSI Tuning Facebook page selling these).

Be interesting to see a back-to-back though

BCS can do a 3.5" (90mm) version of their downpipe as well. For myself, I just generally prefer the sound of a Milltek system over anything else I've head (don't hate on me) but I do have a quote from BCS for a WRC system featuring a 90mm downpipe... Depends if I can save up enough to afford it. Failing that I'll likely opt for this "improved" Milltek downpipe and see what the difference is like, if any real world difference exists.

Interesting, they've gone cast on the turbo outlet like APR.  I bet they both use the same Chinese foundry

They are ridiculously expensive. Thats differential money!

Oh and I read today that there so called lifetime warranty is only for 30% power increase....So not covered if your stage 2

It must melt when you go Stage 2+ then

800 quid, jesus.  Obviously those cast elbows are cheaper than stainless pipe, otherwise they wouldn't use them, but they still ask for shed loads of money for it.  Typical rip off Britain.

Since posting this I've gone and re-listened to the WRC systems from BCS and they have more of the sound I like, plus I saw a post from BCS saying they will be offering Black Friday deals... Would be rude to say no I guess, I would say it depends on how much of a discount they're offering but anything off the price is a win in my book.

As I'm going TTE420, seems sensible to spend the same money that a Milltek system would cost on a better flowing, larger downpipe and a system that won't drone as much as the Milltek. I used to be OK with it but after a 5 hour trip from Essex to Plymouth I lost my sense of humour...

May as well go to Hinkley for your 420map - and get the train back
