Hi all,
ive read the other threads about this code but left a message and i think the thread is too old for a reply.
I have a Mk5 GTI and i get this code. The pipework all seems fine, the N80 valve ticks too. There was a loud buzzing which sounded like it was coming from near the carbon canister for the first 30 seconds after the ignition was turned. i have taken the tub of its mount and undone the tube that has a clip on it but i needed to ask some questions about the rest. The other pipe which goes in, the smaller more rigid pipe is attached to a round cap on the top of the bottle, does this round cap untwist and come off? Mine moves and shows a little gap when played with, is it meant to be fixed?
I was able to shake the canister and the light went out on the engine then came back 20 miles later - is it fair to assume the carbon is at capacity in this scenario rather than the N80 valve being faulty?
When purchasing a new canister, does it come loaded with carbon or is it an empty case? I could do with knowing a supplier.
i am interested in taking the canister apart and firing the carbon for re-use, but could you also buy new carbon (from an aquatic store for example) and replace it?!
my main concern is, how to take the round cap looking thing off safely without breaking.
