Heater Stuck on Warm Temperature
« on: October 29, 2016, 10:23:33 pm »
All of a sudden, my heating will only blow warm air.....regardless of what position the temperature dial is at (obviously it is cold when the car is started....).  I have seen suggestions for faulty blend motors (I get a very slight clicking from the glovebox area (this is currently removed)) and also temperature sensors.....Has anyone else had this problem?

Yeah. Blender motor in my case. You can check the temperature sensors on VCDS

Yeah, me too. But mine was only cold air and was also a problem with a blend flap motor.
OP, do you have dual zone climate? If so, can you get cold air out of left or right side vents? This may help you pinpoint the motor that needs replacing/fixing.
I replaced mine with a used part from a wreckers in the UK despite living in NZ. There is a youtube video showing how to clean them and test them using a multimeter if you want to go that route.
Decided to do the Mk6 climatronic upgrade while I was at it.

Not dual zone climatic....I've taken the glove box out and can see the big flap above the fan....this flap does operate (not sure if it is correctly mind you).....is this what the blend motor operates?

Your car will be be a bit different to mine then, however I suspect the big flap you are referring to will be basically the same. That big flap will be the one that opens and closes depending on whether you are in fresh air or recirculating air mode.
Move all the controls to try and see what moves what. It could even be as simple as something has fallen in the way of a flap if is stopping it from being able to move.
Whatever it is, it will probably be cheap to fix if you're prepared to do all the labour yourself, which since you've already pulled out the glove box, it sounds like you are. :happy2:

...Update.

Fault 01271 - Positioning Motor For Motor Flap (V68) was found and the motor replaced.....this was rescanned and the fault code gone.

It still however showed the following fault code:

00361 - Heater Element for Auxiliary Heater (Z35) 014 - Defective......

There seems to be a lot about this when you Google it, however, whilst I can understand how this would make my heater output only "warm air" BUT would this stop me from being able to adjust the heat output, i.e it is still only warm....?

Please help!!
