SW England Dub Meet - Concept
« on: October 30, 2016, 08:43:26 pm »
I've recently moved down to the South West of England (Plymouth to be exact) and I'm looking to see about organising a small scale meet of SW-Dubbers to get to know some people around here and see what's what. So if you have any thoughts on where a good, central place to meet, time and day (exact date will be arranged later, just a day of the week for now) so we can start working something out that suits the masses.

Thanks in advance!

Hey,
I'm in Plymouth, could be interested, not been to a car meet in about 4 years haha.

Good to get to know local VW people, never know when it might come in handy for parts/tools!

I'm at Fowey, mid south coast.

The only meets near here that I've been aware of have been mainly air-cooled stuff. Too many manky old camper vans for me!
Interested in a gti meet tho....

To be fair, I think it'll be more a general VAG meet if things go my way, was trying to think of ways to reach out to the rest of the VAG circle and get as many ob board as possible.

We could even invite R's and R32...?

Seriously, have you seen SWDubs recently, its gone very quiet on there, as most of us seem to have migrated to more specialist forum's.

I'd hope we'd invite R's along otherwise I can't attend!

(Slight thread revival)
Swdubs forum is quiet, but fb page is busier and the winter meet at j30 services two weekends back was really quite a goodie :happy2:
There was a guy on ukmkivs who set up a regular Exeter meet a year or two back, but not sure if that's still going. I will have a look and see if he's still around. There were fairly regular ukmkivs/ukmkv/ukaudi sw meets, and most summers had a cruise up to Brean or wsm.
Meets always go quiet til the sun comes out!
Once I get mine sorted I'd be up for a meet.

Keep us all informed, this is still something I'm looking into. Hoping that now the winter is closing people may start venturing out again.

So in an update, I'm soon to live near Yeovil in Somerset so will be permanently down the SW. Thinking perhaps a rolling road day at TSR or something may be a laugh?
