gt tdi speaker upgrade help

Guys iv got a 2004 gt tdi with standard head unit and speakers, I'm looking to upgrade just the speakers so what would you recommend as a straight swop for the oem speakers please? i like the poem head unit coz its the 6 cd changer one but the speakers are poor

Thanks mate, just been looking at your build thread, great job on the tdi  :happy2:its given me a few ideas mine is the same only 3 door

but the speakers are poor

It's the amp that's a far bigger problem.

Add an amp, running the OEM front speakers. Disconnect the rear speakers. Will sound a whole lot better than just "upgrading" the speakers, still running off piss poor amplification.

JL XD amps are good, and very compact.

3 door is easier as there is more space for crossovers in the doors. I had to abandon a Hertz install in my 5 door  as I would have had to butcher the door to get the crossovers to fit. Decided it wasn't worth the aggravation and hoping to improve things with just an amp or exact fit replacement speakers.
