What revision is yours?

My revision A did the same thing.  I looked into repairing it but it's so old I deemed it not worthwhile, so invested in a newer 'Q' revision instead.  When it was working, the A used to take about 4 minutes to 'boot up' and start playing music from the HDD.  It was terrible.

If you get an R or an S, I believe they have SSD hard drives, so are pretty quick to boot up.

Have you tried reloading the software onto it again?

There's a repair disc for these radios too, have you tried that?

I  have an RNS 510 which has suddenly developed the 'Splash screen boot problem'.  (Switch on, VW Logo appears for around 20 secs, switches off, repeats).

I have tried booting from a software recovery disk. I can hear it trying to read the CD/DVD, but it doesn't changes the symptoms.

From what I've read so far, it seems to be a fairly common problem. Does anyone know what causes it?
