Alarm false triggering
« on: October 08, 2016, 06:05:19 pm »
My alarm has tiggered for no reason about 4 times in the time I've owned it (nearly a year)

It usually happens at night and the first time it was outside so I assumed someone had tried to nick it.

Since then the car is in the garage overnight but the alarm has still triggered falsely.

The strange thing is, it doesn't reset itself properly, it will sound the siren for a while then stop for 2-3 seconds then start the siren again until it is reset with the key fob.

Now if I set the alarm the LED on the door flashes 7 times, is that a code for something ?

If you can VCDS it, there is a measuring block to tell you what the last four activations were.

Talking from experience of changing the siren a few times on my mk5's, the problem is usually...

Siren itself is failing (internal battery has died or burst).
The battery is packing in.
Faulty ultrasonic sensor inside the car.
Less likely is a fault in the CCM or BCM in later cars, or wiring problem.

Is your car parked in such a way that someone going passed can create a bit of turbulence to rock the parked car? Happened once or twice to my Tiguan when boxed in next to walls, and it is windy.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Thanks Skard,

I had checked for faults with VCDS and not got any so I'll check for the activations.

Is your car a mk6?

If so, it'll be measuring blocks in 09. If
Mk5 then in 46.

Mine seems to go off in very heavy rain / hail. I just deadlock it and it's fine. I think you can adjust the sensitivity too..

Mine started doing something like this and it was the battery, changed to a high quality new one and it's been fine ever since.

I checked my measuring blocks with vcds and have alarm source code 22 for all the last 4 false alarms but so far I've not found what that actually means

Just to add, its seems to be always in the middle of the night, the car is in the garage so no external interference and its fine after I unset then reset

And when it does go off it wont reset itself, it just carries on sounding till you manually unset the alarm

When you hover over the measuring block, a pop up table will appear telling you what code 22 is.

So it would appear my random alarms are caused by the Back up horn. So need to investigate that further

For anyone who needs to know the alarm source trigger codes for the mk6 they are as follows:

0 - Drivers door
1 - Passenger door
2 - Drivers rear door
3 - Passenger rear door
4 - Tailgate
5 - Hood
6 - Rear window contact
7 - Trailer
8 - Rear window broken
9 - Nothing listed
10 - Drivers door invalid signal
11 - Passenger door invalid signal
12 - Drivers rear door invalid signal
13 - Passenger rear door invalid signal
14 to 16 nothing listed
17 - Trailer signal invalid signal
18 - 19 - nothing listed
20 - Interior monitoring
21 - Inclination sensor
22 - back up horn
23 to 29 - nothing listed
30 - Interior monitoring comms error
31 - Inclination sensor comms error
32 - Back up horn comms errors
33 - 30 - nothing listed
40 - Ignition source

Sorry, don't know if they are the same for both, these were taken from a mk6
