Couple of mk5 issues??
« on: November 04, 2016, 08:05:00 pm »
Right so i am quite new to the vw scene but i have bought a mk5 gti in tornado red 5dr dsg.
I have already sourced a leather armrest and fitted it along with a GFB DV+, led interior light kit and gti seat badges.

But i have a couple of issues i need help with.....

Firstly my boot light does not work properly. With the boot half open the light is on full but fully open the led is only on dim. I have done a few searches and this could be related to a bad micro sensor in the boot lock? Does this sound right??
Also if i unlock the boot with the keyfob and open the boot, the alarm goes off. Assuming this is all related??

Also the cruise control works but if i apply the brakes or indicate to move lane the cruise control light goes off and i cant activate it again until the car has been re started. Could this be a stalk problem?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

The boot issues could be the wiring. I have had to repair a number that have broken wires.

The cables go brittle and break in the rubber boot that goes from the car to the boot. Check the cables first.

Cruise could be the stalk. You can get them off eBay for £20 used and not long to fit.
