@Chesto18 Thanks. Sounds like its got some handy reatures. Am i also right in thinking you can also buy a cable that prevents battery drain that attached to the quadlock? Of course avoiding the need for a updated Canbus? I read this somewhere and Tried searching but not much luck.

That's correct. I've posted about it and provided a link too. Try searching my posts and you should find it

Nevermind, I found it for you:

https://m.aliexpress.com/item/32847626802.html?trace=wwwdetail2mobilesitedetail&productId=32847626802&productSubject=BODENLA-RCD330-MIB-RCD510-Multifunction-Steering-Wheel-Button-Control-Simulator-Adapter-For-VW-Golf-5-6

Managed to fit my RCD330 today! Great unit and very good value. Unfortunately do seem to have battery drain so have ordered this connector. I dont have mfsw yet but plan to in future. Is there any specific installation requirements for the cable or is it just plug and play?

Can't help there, sorry. I didn't need it as already upgraded canbus and upgraded to mk6 MFSW

Hopefully it does the job. Otherwise its a good unit and makes the dash look much nicer. Only complaint i have is the screen does suffer from glare somewhat- although window tint would see to that. I also cant find anyway to autodim the screen when the lights turn on. Ive looked through the settings, is there something im missing?

Hmmm. I know mine does dim the map when using apple CarPlay when my lights come on when in auto mode or if I turn them manually when already driving and map is displayed.

Ah found mine does that too. Wondered if does it outside of maps but i dont think its does.
Overall pretty happy with it and helps update interior

Really recommend TuneIN app as alternative to DAB

Gonna go for one of these now you can get the msfw to work with it. Has anyone purchased from this seller?

I've got an RCD330 - same as the one you linked to, the steering wheel adapter (link below), a CH steering module, a G-rev cruise stalk and I've got all the MFSW buttons working except the Track Up / Track Down buttons on the right side of my steering wheel. The buttons (except the Up/Down) all worked without the adapter so that might not be needed. I was hoping to be able to program the CH module with VCDS to allow me to change tracks but I've not been able to yet. The highline computer won't go into the Audio sub-menu which I think is part of the problem. So far, the only fix people mention often is to use a Mk6 MFSW with 12 buttons. The Up/Down buttons still work fine for the other computer functions.

Great stereo but slightly annoyed that I can't change tracks from the steering wheel though, even though my old chinese Android double-DIN could do it. It's easy enough to reach over to the stereo and manually tap the app to adjust tracks.

I've got an 2005 Mk5 GTI with a MK5 MFSW - like the one on the left - https://goo.gl/images/uiF8Wi

MFSW module adapter which I purchased - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/RCD330-Multifunction-Steering-Wheel-Button-Control-Canbus-gateway-Simulator-Adapter-For-VW-Golf-5-6-Jetta/32867792570.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.7a444c4d4W9fHc

@Bearings Ah thanks for the reply mate. Agree, it's a shame about the track up/down buttons not working - I initially looked at these units a while back and the lack of working msfw buttons put me off. I think i'll be able sacrifice those 2 buttons for the added features this has over my RCD510. I was intending on getting the adapter too but might risk it now since yours worked without it.

I suppose for the price you can't expect it to be flawless.

@Mark_DF05

Yeah, for the money it costs - the stereo is good value IMO. I need to have another look using VCDS and the CH module in particular. The one thing I am kicking myself about it not properly recording the setup of my original AJ (?) steering module before removing it. It's a bit of a pain to reinstall the old module back just to look at the coding of it.

I wonder if I can work out the coding from my older VCDS logs? Something to look into when I have a moment...

The trouble is that I only really use my car at weekends, and I need it to be reliable so I don't want to be making changes and potentially stopping the car from working at the moment.

The only other thing that people have commented on is that the mic can pick up a lot of road-noise in the background on phone calls, but I can hear them clearly. It's not a feature I use that often so I'm not bothered by it.

Please advise on the best option. I have at the minute a Veyron, Chinese VW lookalike head unit.

Bad points.
SatNav is next to useless, takes forever to find a signal.
Radio is terrible, crackly and only seems to pick up the strongest stations.
I have the I-pod running through it and it takes three or four goes before it picks it up and starts working.

Good points.
Bluetooth works well for phone etc.
Works with the MFSW.

I had a trusted car audio place look at it and they said the units are cheap and the components inside are not the best that is why it does not work so well. (They did not try and sell me a better unit).

So.
Not too bothered about the phone usage (nobody rings me anyway).
Would like bluetooth to use the phone SatNav.
Would want to keep the Ipod connected.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Bearings' MFSW buttons will be working without the can adaptor due to him having the CH steering wheel module.

Anyone had one of these RNS510 lookalikes?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112752621180?ViewItem=&item=112752621180

I don't mind spending more if I could get DAB and Apple Carplay but nothing below £800 seems available. The guy selling these says that the android ones drain the battery etc and aren't plug and play.

Ideally I would have someone fit it all up and stick in rear parking sensors or a camera at the same time. An external mic is essential. Don't mind spending up to £500. Perhaps a non oem look may be the only option?

Totally out of my depth tbh

@The Red Warrior

This is a long shot but I don't suppose you know how I can get my Up / Down buttons working again with VCDS coding?  I saw a thread on another forum saying the CH module works on both LIN 1.3 and 2.0 which was why I got one, but as usual with a lot of internet forums, it was a bit light on details as to what needed to be done.

Bit reluctant to drop another 300-400 pounds on a Mk6 GTI 12-button MFSW and airbag if there is any other solution available.

No I don't sorry. My previous wheel wasn't a multi function one anyway.
I do recommend the mk6 wheel though. It's the second best mod I've done, after my APR tune. I got mine second hand, but still mint condition from a member on this site. You could always sell your current multi function wheel to offset the cost.

Up and down don't work because they're reliant on being able to access the Radio menu on your MFD, which doesn't work with the RCD330, as far as I can tell none of the mk5/6 compatible MFDs will show you information, not a clue what the vento/polo must use then on the cars they actually come with in india...
