Disconnecting the open bonnet sensor
« on: November 10, 2016, 03:55:41 pm »
Mine is broken, and I can't get it sorted until next week - tomorrow I've got to drive 200 miles down the A1 on wet, salty roads and I could really do with my screen washers!  Is disconnecting the sensor possible? Is it easy? Will it let me use my washers?

Iirc if you disconnect it then it will still be on
Best way to find out is disconnect the plug and see if it goes out

You may need to bridge the wire connection for it to work

How would I do that?  Can I just leave it like that for a week if it works?

If you open the bonnet and look at the latch, follow the wire to a small plug on the front panel and pull the plug apart pressing on the tab. If it does make the bonnet open light go out and the wipers work then it will be fine to use for a week or so. If not try what r5gtt said and bridge the plug with say a paper clip or something like that

It should make the wipers and washers work.
