Cruise stalk from a 2007 2.0 TDI

I've found a cruise stalk on eBay for a few quid that is from a 2007 2.0 TDI golf - Is there any reason this won't work on my 2008 GTI? I'm assuming no but I wanted to check before I buy - I was going to get a new one from china but the delivery times are very long, and I'd like it for next week

It would be fine, it is only really if you get a mk6 steering controller that you need the later stalk.

£20 new and in the UK for this, newer type.

I've seen that - I'm assuming that will be a cheap copy of a VW one?  A I better off going new and a copy, or 2nd hand and VW part?

I put one in a car four years ago and it is still going.
I'd buy a new one, personally.

Nearly bought the same one yesterday but decided to modify my older stalk to work with new module instead, I wouldn't have thought twice about it.
