TFSI cam follower
« on: November 19, 2016, 12:43:49 pm »
Hi people

Today was the day, when after weeks I have finally decided to change cam follower on my 07 Tornado.

Glad I did change it as it was badly worn... not sure how long would it last.

Must say it is a very easy job, took me 30 mins! Very pleased

I've just done mine also, I lubed it up with some fresh oil prior to installing but it now sounds ticky more than before, any ideas?

Yeah mine was from dealer also they do come pre lubed as such but put a film of oil on it also to help, just sounds more tappy than it did before but followed instructions to the letter on replacement so not sure why

Mind that's not the normal wear pattern I've noticed either but it looks like you've caught it in time. :happy2:

Did you look at the cam-lobe for damage and scoring? It implies to me a bit of debris has been between the tappet and lobe causing that style of damage.

+1.
I'm no expert, but that wear pattern is unusual, as i think you will find if you have a dig about on here.
As Doyle says, I think it might be worth having a look at the lobe. Easy-peasy now you're experienced!

Did you prime your pump before starting? I.e turn the key a few times before starting or just started straight away after replacing?
