PP Pack worth it if modding?

(1/2) > >>

keith:
I am looking at the MK7 GTI and while the PP is a good deal if buying new as an option, but if your modding is it really worth it if buying used.
Are the bigger brakes just more added weight so would an aftermarket setup be better
The extra 10 bhp again an aftermarket remap will nullify that.
The main one the uprated diff, is a wavetrac or peloquin better.
Granted these items are dearer than the OEM parts but they could be sold after but is it better just to get a MK7 with other options instead?.

colesey:
An aftermarket diff would cost quite a bit more fitted than the £900 ish upcharge of the PP and I believe you will also get larger rear discs which should balance better with the BBK you are proposing.

grey golfster:
So, are we saying the mk7 pp costs £900 as a new option? If so what is this worth as a secondhand option? Can't be more than £500?
If so that's incredible value for an LSD never mind the rest of the bits....

Seems to me, what we are talking about is perhaps comparable to the option of attempting to upgrade your gti to Eddy type  spec...ie better to buy an Eddy in the first place than attempt to fashion one out of a stock gti? So in this case better to buy a pp gti 7?

To me, it's hard to understand why anyone would consider buying a non pp mk7, at least from new?

flashp:
whose differential gets fitted to these with the PP?
Is it VW's own or something from one of the usual manufacturers?

Yes from new, new facelift has upgraded power now. I am looking at used. The Eddy had cosmetic upgrades as well over the stock GTI. The PP may have better resale later i suppose.
