DSG Fault code 17100 input speed sensor

Could this simply be caused by changing too early with full throttle? E.g. In manual mode in 3rd, foot to floor and then change to 4th at say 2500rpm? This doesn't happen if I change further into the rev range.

The boxes have various safety settings built in so if it brings up a fault there is a reason.

Just thought I may update this topic.

The DSG reset didn't work.

I then bought a remanufactured mechatronics as well as well as the garage changing the speed sensor. After all this it still snatches the gears and now additionally changes into second gear automatically in manual mode when I put my foot down.

Car is stage 1 remap.

Any help would be appreciated as I've already spent so much money ! :/

I think even when in manual mode it will still drop 2 gears if it needs to if the rpm are too low in original gear.

And did they do a reset after parts fitted and new oil?

How much did the sensor replacement cost if you don't mind me asking?

Oh right ok I can't remember it doing that.

I'm not sure they did a DSG reset on my old one and it didn't solve anything.

Well the part was £60ish but didn't charge me labour.

I'm guessing it's time to consider new gearbox.

Well it's highly recommended when fitting a new or refurbished mechatronic unit to do a basic settings reset as it's all new and fresh. It's not essential as the car will learn over time and from motorway driving etc.

As no reset was done you could see how it goes and let the car re learn everything.

Doubt a new gearbox would sort this as the mechatronic is the main "brain" and will control everything in the box from gear changes to speed etc. As you have replaced this im stuck as this usually fixes 99% of problems as described.

My dads mechatronic went on his scirocco and vw sent a new one from Germany which was also faulty.

Maybe but you usually get more than just the speed sensor fault when the mechatronic is playing up.

Maybe but you usually get more than just the speed sensor fault when the mechatronic is playing up.

Have you proof they actually did anything?

Yeah the garage have been sent a report?

I feel pretty stuck on what to do next to be honest haha.

There's a place called ecu testing based in UK

Yeah tell me about it it took ages. It's got a 2 year warranty.

I will check then out but I'm a bit reluctant to carry on down the mechatronic route
