Ed30 values?
« on: December 02, 2016, 12:29:03 pm »
Hi All,

Having purchased my car in September its been great (when working).

I've spent a small fortune on it but its my pride and joy (and first proper car). A valve snapped so its been in the garage for 2 weeks but hopefully pick it up later today. I just wanted an honest opinion on how much the car is worth and how much it will be worth say in a few years time?

Car is Black, 5dr DSG. Mileage is 125k and in use daily. All the following has been carried out within the last month.

Timing Belt/ Water pump/ Cam follower
Coolant sensor/ Thermostat/ Coolant
VWR subframe mount/ Tyrol Subframe Kit
Head reconditioned with new gaskets/ Replacement chain
New sparks/MAF sensor
4 Tyres

Needs

DSG service
Full respray (will probably do in Summer)
New shocks and springs.

What do you think?

There's a 3 door manual in red done 147k on the for sale section for £5250 - so I would guess around £6k-£6500 for yours?

Does it NEED a full respray or are you just being a bit picky with stone chips etc?  That's a few K (for a top job) you won't get back!

What caused the valve to snap?

Yeah I'd agree with £6-£6.5K.

Values on these past 100K miles are falling quite sharply at the moment, so I'm just gonna mod mine and run it into the ground and enjoy it.

Thanks for the replies.

It needs a front end respray and the passenger door needs replacement.  Me being fussy I will end up having it all done.

Yes I also plan to mod and enjoy but ive spent over 2k in 2 months on maintenence and repairs. Not sure what caused the valve to go but I decided to get the chain replaced whilst the head was off as that had some play in it. Chain might have jumped but it was only the one value in cylinder 3.
