Max Verstappen what a win! Spain F1 GP 2016
« on: May 15, 2016, 03:01:11 pm »
What an amazing race..anyone watch it?

Think Nico shut out Hamilton but very aggressive driving from them both.

Landmark time for young race drivers.. Top race from Max! Really enjoyed it  :happy2:

Yeah I've been watching. What an incredible race, one of the most entertaining to watch in a long time.

Personally think Nico should be taking more of the blame than Hamilton. Completely shut him out and gave no room, the speed Lewis had on Nico as well no way Lewis could have done anything different. And Nico should be leaving 1 cars width from edge of the track.

Verstappen though, what a guy. Think he thoroughly deserves the win and has been racing incredibly. Some brilliant moves that you expect to see from the likes of Schumacher, Hakkenen, Vettel and Alonso.

All four of the top finishers raced well though, on quickly degrading tyres.

First race where verstappen hasn't bitched and moaned like a child but we'll driven from him

Was still pretty much gifted to him by rosberg and Hamilton

Hardly gifted to him.

Still had to keep Raikkonen at bay for the whole race who is renown for being very good at having pace and being able to look after tyres.
Not to mention a brand new car which he only drove for the first time on Friday.

Credit where credit is due tbf to the lad, he handled the pressure well.

The opportunity of a win to any of the top 4 was gifted by the Mercedes drivers, which I firmly blame on Rosberg after watching the slow-mo analysis shown on Skyf1 after the race. No question about it in my opinion, and I'm no particular fan of either of them.

Max drove exceptionally well, regardless of his age. He was lucky that the 2 stop turned out to be the strategy of choice, as was Raikkonen, else it would have been Ricciardo on the top step IMO.

Overall, I wish they would just ban Mercedes and we could go back to having a proper race every weekend, not just a race for 'best of the rest' :signLOL:

Yep agree Rosberg is to blame.. Before making that corner they should be on the outer side ( left side for a right hand corner)

Commentary says they were trying to break the slip stream effect... but couldn't Hamilton have gone to Rosbergs left instead of right?

Also contention about dangers driving if drivers encroach on each others braking zones ..

Tough one.. both seem guilty but Rosberg is more at fault

That's not the reason Rosberg is at fault, because he was already on the inside on that long right hand sweeper. They take that as the racing line and drift out wide ready for the next right hand turn.

The reason was because Rosberg ventured well off the racing line and literally gave Lewis nowhere else to go.

New upgrades coming to that Redbull and Ferrari engine next race I believe, they're only half a second off the pace now. By middle of the season there won't be much between them I reckon in terms of performance.

Young Max is a big talent for the future, surely a world champion in the making... He drove a great race and probably would have been on the podium even if Nico or Lewis stuck around.

+1 for mostly Nico's error, he gave Lewis nowhere to go on tarmac and the grass was always gonna' equal tears.

I certainly fancy Max to win a championship or two! With Redbull likely to tie him down to a longer contract, I just hope they can provide a car to challenge the Mercs sooner rather than later. Realistically they are still slightly behind the Ferraris pace as well.
