400hp @ 11psi (0.8 bar) mate

....The Corrado only had a Quaife diff in it but does nothing with that kind of power

Awesome buddy :happy2:

You more than doubled the output of the VR6 :happy2:

Remind me; on the corrado the VR6 output was 174hp or 196hp or something? Can't remember :ashamed:

I am also interested to hear your thoughts on the quaife diff?

As the power climbs on my car I'm considering buying a quaife a peloquin or some such to try and temper the front end?

I would be interested to hear if you think that a worthwhile upgrade or not?

Cheers in advance,
Dave

190hp for the Corrado 2.9 and 174hp for the Golf 2.8  :happy2:

The Quaife didn't do a lot in my Corrado but it should work better in the MK5, and I would go for the Wavetrac personally  :happy2:

Does the MK5's traction control brake a spinning wheel?  If so, then yeah a diff would be a good move

I'm saving that for when my gearbox needs a rebuild.  I'm going to put a shorter final drive in it as well because the gearing is way too tall for my tastes

No it doesn't work like that. No "e-diff"on the mk5

That is a bit pants.  So it's just engine cut then?  Booooo.

Do you know if the MK6 has it and can be retrofitted?

Cheers mate, and will do!

Believe it or not, I will be running it with the standard air box and cat back

I know that sounds like a waste but peak numbers don't motivate me, it's more the fatter power band I'm after and a turbo that can make the same power as a strung out K04, but at a more relaxed boost pressure, so probs aim for about 360-370hp

I love this idea! Mega stealth mode! Love it :happy2:

Standard appearing Ed30 even when you open the bonnet; Check :happy2:
Big chubby unexpected slug of torque in the midrange; Check :happy2:
No stupid huffing and puffing from the airbox (I've an oversized Ramair and it makes an awful racket - but for some reason I kind of perversely like it ); Check :happy2:
OEM level of exhaust noise; Check :happy2:

Amen to all of that

Here is a previous project where I was told a 2.5" exhaust and factory airbox would be a really bad idea, but was actually a very epic machine indeed!  Really miss it actually, it was bonkers fast    Younger viewers may not recognise the car, but it's a Corrado VR6, and the turbo is a GT35R, which is a superb turbo for reliability, spool and sheer grunt.

I remember following your build thread on vr6oc...absolutely amazing

Going by the 'farts' emitted from my exhaust when it kicks in I assume it's ignition cut of some sort?
