Mk6 Golf R Cabriolet
« on: December 04, 2016, 07:58:38 am »
Morning.

My Girlfriend and I are going to look at one of these this morning. Obviously with a £22k budget I have tried to steer her towards a mk7 R but she insists on having a white convertible, what with her being a hairdresser and all! She really likes the look of these, so I thought I'd ask if anyone has experience/opinions/alternative suggestions.

She doesn't like BMW, and I've already tried the Audi S5. The other cars on the table are the new TT and a SLK350.

Thanks,

Ian

The R convertible is  identical to the golf R but its fwd instead of 4wd/haldex

I drove the TT a few weeks ago, was quite impressed. well worth considering

The 6R cabrio needed an electric hardtop and 4WD. It didn't get either and weighs almost as much as if it did!

If she wants a cabrio tell her to get a Mazda 5 with electric hardtop. Better balanced, Looks better, lighter and more fun. :happy2:
Golf R gone.

Golf R is great but a real shame to lose the 4WD for the Golf R cabrio, but of a marketing con if you ask me!   :surprised:

Hello all,

Sorry for the delay chaps. Yes if it wasn't a car we are buying together It would be a 7R all day long, but the brief was a cabriolet.

The 6R cabriolet was very nice but my Mrs didn't like the ride. I loved the DSG though!

After she was unenthused by a E350 AMG cabriolet, an S5 cabriolet, we found a car that does everything we want. I pick up our BMW sdrive35i on Saturday, and true to form its blue!
Bloody quick too! 306bhp and as its a twin turbo, I shall remap it to stage 1 and look at a brake upgrade. I shall put some pictures up when I remember how to do that!
