No the Vibratechnics.

I haven't tried DLI mounts but know of them in MK4 R32 circles in America.  Apparently no increase in vibration, but a big increase in noise, which is to be expected from mounts made of metal!  Again, they aren't cheap either.

For those not familiar with them, they do away with rubber / urethane completely and use a spring with some steel wool in the middle.  Well, the latter is a bit more technical than that, but is essentially what it is   It's damper material.

I completely understand that mate.  It cost me £450 to shod my old R32 with Vibratechnics mounts, so it's a big investment for something you're apprehensive about.

For comparison, the 034 Motorsport ones are £286 ish from Awesome, but I have a feeling they will feel great for 6 months, and then rapidly deteriorate.

VibraT are a small company, so you will rarely find a good deal on them, unless a supplier can do a group buy and swallow the VAT or something.

Worth mentioning Vibratechnics also do an upgrade for the other end of the dogbone:

With the bigger bushes upgraded, I've found the smaller (voided) one takes more punishment and wears out quicker.

I would recommend doing both ends of the dogbone with Vibratechnics and new OEM side mounts and see how that works out.   That will significant reduce front to back slop and wheel hop, but to improve cornering stability, the side ones will need doing at some point, but they really do add a lot of NVH.

I'll still considering upgrading my side engine mounts in the future. I have both lower VT bushes and can't fault them.

@pudding - sorry if I'm being a bit dull  but,  by Febi being worse than OEM do you mean softer? or just bad quality?

Only asking as I have a set in the garage and had been planning on replacing my 114,000 mile old originals.

Thanks

Paul

Bad quality from my experience of them in older VWs.  They just didn't last long at all and increased vibration.  Do they even make them for MK5s?  By all means try them, but I wouldn't count on them being amazing!

Thanks Pudding - I went and checked and they aren't Febi (I assumed as I bought them from ECP) - they're CORTECO - which are probably just as cr*p!

Hi
I've got the dogbone mount and lower engine mount from Vibra-Technics. The engine and gearbox mounts are from 034 Motorsports. I've only recently mounted them and must say it's an improvement. I'll Let you know what it'll be in a couple of months.

The Street Density ones?  How are you finding the noise and vibration?  The Vibratechnics dogbone adds a tiny amount of NVH which is livable day to day.  How does that work alongside the 034 mounts?

Yes the Street Density ones :happy2: I must admit that there is an increase in noise but not in a bad way.
For the rest I didn't push it very hard yet! :innocent: I still have to mount my exhaust and get a proper dyno test!
Once that is done I can realy push it! I'll get back on it then. For now it's all doing its job and the 034 mounts are working allright despide the comments I've read. Could be changing my opinion in the neer future but as I said I didn't push it yet!
