there were ones on eBay with less but you just have to trust the person who's selling it.

What parts are worth harvesting off the old engine for resale to try and recoup some of my money back?

Mate; you're so right about buying from a trusted source. A friend of mine got duped not once but twice! by an unscrupulous crook selling engines!!

Basically everything off the engine that's not bust will be worth stripping and selling. Turbo, Coils, clutch, flywheel, cam cover, inlet manifold, various sensors all should be worth reasonable fee quid depending on condition.

Other things like VVC control valve, auxiliary belt tensioner, Thermostat, water pump etc might be worth something to someone too :happy2:

Good luck with it buddy!!

Been there done that lol. It is very painful.

I replaced a AXX with a BWA engine, bought a complete engine with turbo, aircon etc to save the hassle of swapping old stuff. Sold good bits from old engine, cylinder head, turbo, compressor, alternator etc to claw back a few quid.

Would recommend doing the clutch and flywheel while engine is out.

Basically the oil pickup pipe in the sump becomes blocked with dirty bits of oil etc and starves the engine of oil. It's quite a cheap item to replace as a precaution.
