Painting a gti rear bumper??

Just wondered how you have all done this as they are textured so was told that couldn't be painteded on textured plastics?

It can be done. You can buzz it down a little with a d.a sander and use high build primer and then flat that down and paint or the method we like to use is to prep, paint and lacquer the texture then rub it down with 500 grit and paint and lacquer it again.
So to answer you question yes you can paint the textured plastic

Speaking of bumpers, can you get like a vinyl strip (like a sill protector) to put on the top to protect it from being scuffed from loading / unloading?

I've got a bit of paint coming off in that area (previous owner bodge I think) and that would save me from having to repaint the whole thing!

Aluminium and all colours of vinyl available  VW have them but expect them to be ££££   Ive had a Passat one fitted for yeeeears and its still doing it job if a bit scored
