Vacation Advice - Barcelona
« on: January 09, 2017, 11:08:50 am »
Has anyone been to Barcelona on vacation recently? @dazza aren't you in that general direction?

I've never been so I'm looking for recommendations on things to do.

Barca is a decent holiday.

i wont for a stag do last year. Are you going with family or a lads holiday?

Loads of decent clubs by the marina. lots of boat parties and booze cruises to do. paintballing and all that fun stuff.
La Ramble/rambla was quite a decent spot and not far from anything

We went last summer.... Great place. Stank of sh*t pretty much everywhere though.

Highly recommend "Somorrostro" Tapas restaurant in Barcelonetta.... amazing!!

Sagrada Familia is absolutely off the scale in every way....  :congrats:

The market on the Ramba is incredible, worth spending a long morning walking around there eating some iberico ham.

Lots of things to do in Barcelona, Its hard to list them depends on what you are interested in. I could spend days juts walking around the city. Live about 30 mins out now, don't ask me about night life i gave up drinking when my kids were born. Had some crazy nights in Barcelona though.

Love Barcelona. Went the last three years in a row. Bus tours were brilliant, the blue and red routes both as good as each other and they run like clockwork. Sagrada Familia is a must even just from the outside. Not sure if the new Nou Camp is open yet, they had the plans sitting there when I was over. Cable cars are worth a visit, brilliant view from the top. Look up MAKAMAKA burger bar on the beach front.

Cheers, Stevie.

You can stay in a rented apartment in GrĂ cia Barrio. It's central and with everything you need close by.

Going with the girlfriend so partying will be minimal to be honest...

@dazza a friend suggested Marriott AC Hotel Gava Mar which is 10km east of the airport but it's right on the beach. Would that be too far out and is there anything to do out that direction?

Too far out IMO... get a hotel as central as possible.

We stayed at hotel cram barcelona. Fairly central and nice rooftop pool bar area.

Like Rich said too far out. I lived in poblenou for a few years. Walking distance to the beach close to the port which Paradox1 mentioned. And you can also walk to sagrada familia in 15 mins. Metro train and tram. A taxi to the centre does not cost much. A quick beer/coffee in the local rambla will be much cheaper than the centre.

a couple of hotels i remember. But there are cheaper ones.
