Conor's Black 3 door GTI
« on: December 20, 2016, 07:16:38 pm »
Afternoon all! Thought I'd put a few pictures together of my golf.

I planned on keeping it standard as they are pretty quick and look good... but you know how it is haha.

Here she what she looked like when I got her, wheels were a bit scabby and needed a good polish!!

Headlight on the left was faded too.

So first thing I did was refurb both lights.

Like new :happy2:

Was getting tired of looking for a new drivers seat as the bolster had worn on mine and they wanted a fortune to repair, luckily enough another forum member had some 6r seats on @Wolf Burger

Some people don't rate them but I love em.

Next on the list was a wheel refurb. 3 wheels weren't too bad but 1 was shocking so I took the plunge and had them all done in anthracite grey, looks stealthy.

Inbetween this I replaced the cam follower, no sign of change before so not bad for 110k;

My friend taking the DV out for a check.

DV was okay but a revision D so I swapped that out for a GFB DV+

I think that's it for now, booked into R-tech in a couple of month. Precat delete and induction kit to be done+fitted . Should see around 250bhp which is plenty!! After that it will be coilovers to drop her about 25-30mm

Few pictures of her cleaned up.

Thanks for looking. Any feedback would be good!

It's the best product I've used. Sealed it with carbon collectives hybrid coating after and it cleans up well man

Very nice example you have there mate. I'll be watching your thread with interest.

It's good to see another senior black GTI get some love and attention.

Top work.

Very nice Conor and as Andy said it won't stay standard for long , do you think that black hole stuff would work on my car or is it just for black?

Did one of my headlights today at my parents, they were a bit worried when it looked like your pic  :signLOL:

Thanks mate. I think it's made it look slightly more modern! Just ordered a cherry red hazard switch, LED number plate lights and a 1 metre square of 3m carbon wrap to play about with haha! Christmas time is a nightmare for delivery!! @Rippers

I found all the little details really lifted the car, interior stuff that you look at every day is worth it. How are your grab handles? Made huge difference to mine when I replaced them. Anther tidy trick is to very carefully run a magic sponge over the steering wheel. I was embarrassed at the grime that came off but it came up perfect and back to mat.

You'll be pleased with the hazard switch. I love mine.

Although these cars are now starting to age I think they look spot on still in terms of style. Black 3 door GTI has to be a future classic in my eyes.

Yeah I love having things slightly different to others. To be honest they're not in bad condition at all, I was thinking of having a go at wrapping them haha! I think I'm going to have a go at that, and give it a few goes with leather reconditioner.
Personally for the money I think they're an awesome bit of kit! Stylish, fast and not in your face!
