Need a K04 core for my K04 turbo unit I sold last week
« on: December 22, 2016, 03:28:33 pm »
As above need a K04 core as the guy I sold my K04 to has received it broken in two places  :sad1: so I'll have to refund the money back to him when I receive it back. He said for me to send him the money first so he can try get another turbo and also said he could get a new core for £250 even after me telling him to send it back and when insisted he send it back he then said give him £125 and he'll cover the rest  what's going on ??? has he damaged it and trying it on to get a new core out of me even though there was nothing wrong with it when I sent it to him???

'send the money first' - that sounds like a scam to me

then asking you to send £125 so he can fix it - also sounds like a scam

How did you send it?  If it was insured you may be able to claim back *if* it is broken.

im such a dongle bro  I packed the ficking thing so well that it was bomb proof but it still wasn't enough and stupidly didn't insure it to save that tenner  :slap:

Basically I'm at a loss and he gets his refund regardless of what has happened.

Yes he sounds dodgy to me but sadly it's what's happened now.

 :sad1:

Is that the actual turbo you sent him?  Did you make a note of the serial number or anything before sending it to him?

That looks to me like it's either been dropped on the floor hard and the casting has shattered, or it's been 'clocked' round and he's way over tightened the bolts, because erm....it's funny how that's exactly where the cracks are eh?

Don't give him anything until he's sent it back first.

hi pudding, I've marked it all up and can see from the pictures me has opened it up possible to take the internal core out as the tipex marks aren't aligning up

Also what you said about dropped is a possibility but the core looks like it's popped out in the first and third picture and in the middle picture which is before I sent the turbo was fully flush and marks were aligned ?

He's not getting a penny until the turbo comes back and I'm satisfied it's not been tampered with and I don't give a crap of the knows where I live.

Hi dan that must be because I'm a knob and too trusting.
I wrapped it up so a bomb couldn't damage it and thought what the heck this guy works for ford so won't scam me  :slap: sorry guys I've shot myself in the foot again  :sad1:

What should o do as he's going to send it back next week Wednesday so will be back to me maybe the following week.

Should I tell him his a thief in not so many words and say you have opened it and you're not getting a penny back off me or should o wait till it's back and then check it over fully before telling him to jump ship and take me to court or open a case on Paypal as he didn't pay with good and services?.

Did he pay by gift? In that case youre laughing. You could tell him to go whistle.... or.....

I'd tell him that if he insists on returning it then upon receipt you'll have the damage inspected by a turbo re-manufacturer and have them produce a report. If the damage is found to be from tampering rather than impact damage then you will not be refunding and will invoice the seller for the full cost of inspection and pursue via small claims if necessary. Advise him that you can visually see the orientation/clock of the core has been altered and strongly suspect the damage has been caused by overtightening of the bolt directly in the centre of the damaged area

In the mean time I'd price up an inspection and written report and be prepared to do this. It will be a lot cheaper than what you sold the K04 for.

In future, TRUST NO-ONE!! Always cover your arse with proof of delivery, paypal goods (as a buyer), insured courier etc.

Thank you Dan, yes he paid as gift but I'm not the type to go and tell him to whistle as in my eyes it's wrong even though people do it with me

I will send him a message today once I've got a turbo recon specialist to give me a price on what it will cost and everything else you mentioned as it's not right what people do for sure.

You're right there when you say TRUST KNOW ONE and I've been told numerous times but I never learn  :slap: hopefully this will be the last time I do something stupid like this causing more headache for myself and really appreciate your advice Dan :drinking:

Will let you know what he replies with. Dodgy ford stealer staff

Thanks

Would you believe I've just received a message on fb saying he's been offered a core for now £50 so if o send his that he'll call it quits whichbive not replied to yet     something dodgy is definitely going on as he doesn't want to send the turbo back and miraculously doing a cheap core :signLOL:

Yeah he's opened it up to inspect the compressor wheel but due to his ignorance, f'cked it up when putting it back together.  Then realising his mistake, he tried to take advantage of your good nature.  And he works for Ford?  That is worrying!  He shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a car if he can't even torque a bolt down properly.

Don't be too hard on yourself for seeing the good in people, it's not a bad thing in this day & age.  There are a lot of dishonest arse wipes out there, so you just need to be a bit cautious  :happy2:

So he's bought another one but still wants a refund for the one he f'cked up?!? Did I read that right?  Just don't reply and block him mate.
