ABS sensor removal
« on: January 01, 2017, 05:42:19 pm »
Hi all, I was trying to remove my rear drivers side ABS sensor earlier, it was stuck in very tight so of course I snapped the bloody thing off in the hole! Tried drilling into it, drove a screw in and pulled at it with pliers... no progress.

So I'm wondering is there any easy access to the other side of the sensor, so I can push it out of its hole? If I removed the brake disc and the guard behind it, is the sensor visible? It's awkward trying to work at the sensor from the outside, since I cant see what I'm doing or fit a drill in there properly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

Have a look here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Volkswagen_Golf_GTI_Mk_V/128-SUSPEN-Rear_Bearing_Carrier_Replacement/128-SUSPEN-Rear_Bearing_Carrier_Replacement.htm

It shows where is sensor located.

It's worth a shot removing brake disc as you might be lucky and you will be able to tap sensor through one of the holes.
It will definitely give you more visibility.

Hope this helps and good luck.
