Hub Spigot Rings

Hi All,

Im thinking of buying a set of TD Pro race 1.2's as track day wheels and the set Ive seen have a bore size of  73.1, obviously I need to get that down to 57.1 for the old GTi.

Anyone got any recommendations where to buy or which spigot rings to buy? Can get them for around a fiver on ebay, but I wonder how close the tollerance is on something so cheap!

I know of a seller locally to me that sells TD Pro Race 1.2's that come straight from the factory "Rimstock" with the Centre Bores machined to 57.1MM.

I purchased a Gloss Black set from him a few weeks back, He does loads of direct fitment TD wheels as they are better suited for Motorsport applications/Track days than wheels with Spigots.

Obviously I don't know if you are buying new wheels or how much they are etc

If you opt for those bigger size centre bore wheels, I bought aluminium spigot rings from Demon Tweeks.

I'd prefer getting wheels with the correct size centre bore. I didn't because I got wheels, tyres, spigots rings and wheel nuts all together on a Black Friday sale. Saved a lot in shipping costs and a bit on the wheels cost.

The wheels Im looking at are pretty mint used and come with a set of nearly new Toyo T1Rs. Ideally, yes I would prefer the correct bore size, but if these come at the right price (under £500 for wheels and tyres) then spigots are the way to go!

Don't be too put off by the idea of spigot rings. I had them on an old car (60odd mm to 57.1mm) which was driven 'enthusiastically' for a good 5 years. No issues whatsoever. They were plastic/composite. Some alloy ones like Shoduchi mentioned would be ideal for a bit of extra peace of mind.

When I tapped them into the wheels they fit with a reassuring click - nice and snug with no play. Just make sure yours do the same and you're good to go.

So, and quite unexpectedly, I got the nearly mint 18 x 8 pro race 1.2's with the virtually new Toyo T1R 235/40/18's (as in can still see the manufacturing coloured lines they are that new) for £345...which I'm pretty chuffed with!

Spigot rings now need to be purchased

Thought Id stick up an update to this for anyone who might be interested.

Contacted Rimstock/ Team dynamics asking if they supplied or recommended a make of spigot rings. Turns out they supply and you can buy direct from them. So i ended up buying 4 x plastic spigots with 12 month warranty and a set of correct tapered team dynamics nuts with locking nut for grand total of £42 delivered, which i thought was very reasonable.

Spigot rings were £20 on their own, which is a bit more than you can get them for on ebay (under a tenner), but Im happy to pay the extra knowing they.are supplied by the alloys manufacturer
