RCD300 Code?
« on: January 03, 2017, 03:10:36 pm »
I've just found my old RCD300 head unit from my MK5 (which I no longer own). Is there anyway of recovering the code or a reset code etc as  I have no idea where it is. Probably with the handbook when i sold it.

Ta, Boothy.

The codes generally were put on a card that would have been in with your owners manual.

There are plenty folk on a popular online auction site that offer codes for VW head units.   :happy2:

Mk5 Golfs didn't come with radio code cards since the radio code is stored in the cluster. You can disconnect the battery the times you want and the radio won't request the code. Only if you change the cluster you'll need to insert the code again.

VW can check the code database with the VIN of the original car of the radio and the serial number of the radio.

Pretty strange??  I have a VW card with my radio code on it in my owners manual folder.  I thought this would be normal?

06 plate Mk5 GTi.

Mine are a 08 and a 09. None have radio code cards. I had to ask VW the code so I could sell the factory fitted radios.
