Ok mate, that's cool. I've seen the mistake made before, if you have a MFSW you need -

0 = w/o Board Computer and w/o Cruise Control System (CCS)
or
2 = w/o Board Computer and with Cruise Control System (CCS)

Many people confuse the Board Computer option because they have highline etc  :happy2:

Not to go too far off topic, but my MFSW coding, CC installed and all working is below:

Address 16: Steering wheel        Labels: 1K0-953-549-MY8.lbl
   Part No SW: 1K0 953 549 AQ    HW: 1K0 953 549 AQ
   Component: J0527           636 0070
   Coding: 0003042
   Shop #: WSC 01279 785 00200

   Part No: XXXXXXXXXXX
   Component: E0221           002 0010

No fault code found.

ps car has poverty spec midline too.

What is the Board Computer referring to?

The board computer is the highline/midline.  You normally code for it if you don't have MFSW and use the right stalk buttons to navigate the menus.  With a MFSW you wouldn't normally have it coded.

Ahh, that explains why I can still use the wiper stalk to scroll, as well as the SW buttons.  I think i will just leave as is.

cheers Stu.  This VCDs lark is addictive.

I'm willing to buy the mk 6 stalk but it'll be a shot in the dark. No VW superheads that has a solution??
I really need the C/C as i use it to shift between my APR maps, wife uses standard in these slippery times and the fun program is for me

As Darren said, I've recently changed my later style steering wheel buttons (the ones with the star and menu buttons) to the earlier style ones, as my Golf is a early 2005 model year. Again as Darren correctly said, the older style buttons now have a "source" button the left hand set. Using this scrolls through, FM, Internal CD, CD Changer (IPod), and Aux (if switched on).

Both phone buttons on the left set work perfectly with my parrot bluetooth kit. The right hand stalk has volume up and down as well as track up/down and fast forward. The cool thing is that I don't have to be in the Audio menu of the DIS to use the track up/down/seek buttons. they are always active no matter what screen I am in. this is due to the fact that the functions on the DIS are now totally controlled by the wiper stalk and NOT the steering wheel buttons.

Cruise control works perfectly just as before the button swap too.

Works perfectly for me.

Sorry DanishMKVGTI, probably doesn't help you with your problem.

Cheers

Andrew

Thx for the thought, what control box do you have the BK? These things that you describe goes for the mk 5 MFSW, and the problem i have is after fitting the CH box in correlation with the mk 6 MFSW  :sad1:

No, I have an earlier version "AK" -swapped over from my much older version when I fitted the MFSW in Dec 2008 if you are talking about the steering controller.

If you are referring to the Can gateway controller then mines really old - it's a 1K0 907 530 E !

Well finally i got around to fitting the Mk 6 C/C stalk ,and i have to inform the audience that.............................................................................

IT WORKS  :pomppomp:  :congrats:  :star:

aparently they have changed the way the stalk communicates with the controller, maybe to improve the weak C/C contact in the mk 5 stalk, but frankly i don't care, 'cause it freakin works again  :jumping:  :jumpmove:

partnr. 1K0 953513 G  (9B9 for black) mk 6 C/C stalk
