All Things Mk7 R and GTI > Mk7 General Area
Anyone got any news on the 7.5R release?
white91:
Worst thing about mk7 is the skinny steering wheel! I love the chunkiness of the mk5 and the look of the mk6

Seen pictures etc and looks ok but wouldn't go swapping a mk7 for a mk7.5 that's just crazy . Will wait till my 8 comes out but it would have to be good to make me swap mine . There just a fantastic drivers car
GrayMK5GTI:
The 8 will be based on the same platform, and likely have the same engine (with a few tweaks). But like mk5-mk6 the big changes only happen every couple of generations

Thanks guys. That link is very useful.
Out of interest, @GrayMK5GTI how are you getting on with your R? Tbh I've shied away recently as I felt I wanted a bigger change than "another Golf". I do love Golfs though...

I've had mine 14 months now and absolutely love it. It's a great daily. . (Comfy, refined, practical & sensible), yet when you get 'on it' it ridiculously capable - unlimited straight line traction whatever the weather in any gear, and shows up most standard cars on the road. There's lots of feel through the chassis, and it's genuinely exciting to drive hard, far from a 'boring golf'.
I embarrassed a mapped Focus RS the other day - despite mine being stock
Defineltly faster in the real world than the figures suggest, yet pretty much as good on fuel (and cheaper to tax / insure) than my old mk5.
Best car I've ever owned :notworthy:
