How To Fix Washer Fluid Dash Light?
« on: January 09, 2017, 10:03:04 am »
My girlfriends mk5 golf has a dash light to refill washer fluid.

The tank is completely full so I imagine it's the sensor.

I have VCDS and tried resetting it and actually turning it off but to no avail.

Only had a quick look yesterday, I imagine the sensor is at the lowest point? Has anyone replaced one before?

It might be the famous bonnet catch sensor that checks you've opened your bonnet when any of the lights come on. Common fix is to spray liberally with a cleaner (or WD40) and give it a clean out with a brush.

VCDS measure value blocks will be able to check the bonnet sensor and the washer sensor, just need to find the module/block

Bonnet catch is fine. Tested already by leaving bonnet open and coolant cap off. Only registers when bonnet closes.

Anybody else?

See link below. There is a manual done by Eddie-NL how to add low screen wash sensor.
I am sure you can use it for replacing it.

Eddie is showing on how to do it via fog lamp grille. I think it's also doable by removing wheel and wheel arch trim.

Hope this helps.
