Slight misfire

Hi guys I've noticed that over the last few weeks my gti has a miss/moment of hesitation at between 2500-3000rpm, what could cause this no codes or errors showing on vcds, if it helps it sounds like my car dumps pressure(boost) then builds it back up once over 3000rpm

I'm thinking new plugs and coil packs ,but is there anything else I should look at also

Properly clogged inlet Valves and Gummed up Injector(s).
If no codes are showing then that's proberly it.

Is it at WOT? Do you hear a pop from the exhaust like when the traction control kicks in? And is the power loss abrupt? Or is it more of a gentle 'lull' in power for a few seconds, like a mini limp mode?

Could well be an injector although it's just as likely to be a plug or coil. Hopefully for you that's the case. Easy cheap DIY. That's if it's a misfire rather than a fuel cut. Are you tuned? If so what hardware and map?

A misfire won't necessarily store a code until it gets quite frequent/severe.

Try plugs first. Then coils, then injectors. A misfire code on a specific cylinder would make things easier. You could try data logging with VCDS if it still doesn't store a code. It might reveal a clue if you keep an eye on the misfire counter. Without a code you're left guessing and you can't do much more than replace 4 plugs, drive it, replace 4 coils, drive it, and so on.

Yea I kinda had a feeling I would have to do that o well time to get some r8 red coil packs then might as well while I'm replacing them up-grade them :)

I think the idea of them being an upgrade has been debunked, but they're certainly on par with the original coils, and cheaper. I got mine from AKS. There was some chat a while ago about other vendors allegedly stocking non genuine R8 coils, in as much as they didn't have any VAG part numbers on them even though they were otherwise identical. Not sure how much of all that should be read into, but for the record AKS supply the ones with stamped part numbers.

Just a quick up date to my post

I replaced coil pack and plugs made no difference, so then I brought some creation motorsport lower boost pipes on removing passenger lower boost pipe it was covered in oil and crud so was not sealing or was leaking so fitted new pipe and touch wood no issues since

Very common that and why I did a full O ring delete.

6R intercooler - no O rings.
Rigid turbo discharge pipe - O ring end cut off and 2.25" rolled end welded on.
Turbo outlet - Forge muffler delete and silicon elbow.

Zero O rings, zero leaks, a different car!  Even the part throttle and idle quality have improved, and I still haven't done the valve job yet.  108K miles.

All of it is a straight swap apart from the rigid turbo discharge pipe. You'll need someone who can weld aluminium to sort that for you. I'll take some pics of it all next time I'm under there!
