DSG Remaps
« on: January 14, 2017, 10:43:58 pm »
Hi All

Just wondered whether any fellow forum members have had their DSG remapped?

Would appreciate any feedback on which companies offer this, and whether you've been happy with the results?! My primary reason is to smooth down changes in Drive.

I am in Bromley, Kent, so somewhere local would be good, or otherwise a handheld unit to upload appears to be an option.

I'd do a DSG reset first. That should help a lot or that after a oil and filter change. The remap allows more torque from the engine, speeds shifts, allows an higher rpm limit and gives you more control of the gearbox.

I did one by GIAC. I like the torque limiter removal (my torque is 363 lb*ft), the higher rpm launch control, higher redline rpm (6900rpm), and that it stays in a manually selected gear longer before downshifting. I don't think I would opt for it unless stage 2+ (w/hpfp upgrade) or K04  :drinking:

Thanks guys. I've already done a full adaptations reset, and changed the oil and filter.

The way I look at it, if I am able to find a tuner happy to offer a refund say within 30 days if not happy, I've got nothing to lose.

If it's jerky then a remap won't fix that.

Thanks - email sent!

I wouldn't say it is jerky, just not very smooth in D when it changes from say 4th to 3rd, or 3rd to 2nd.

In all other respects, it is perfectly smooth.

Remap won't help. You can waste your money on one thought if you like.

This.

Will be a waste of money.  Try the other routes suggested first like a dsg reset and maybe service.

I'm not convinced. I've have experience of a new mechatronics on my previous R32.

It's under a VW used car warranty for a little longer, but dealership doesn't agree it's a fault!

Yeah, you're right. It's difficult to explain.

Probably best described as far too much engine braking when no throttle applied i.e. when gently braking to a stop. When others are in the car it is quite embarrassing!

Really disappointing, as it is otherwise great!
